The NWRESD assists local school districts in providing appropriate educational services to students with disabilities, from birth through 21 years of age. Special Student Services represents the largest area of service provided by the ESD.
The Northwest Regional ESD provides special education to students in kindergarten through 12th grade with a wide range of specialized classrooms and schools for children with significant developmental, emotional & behavioral disabilities. Students are referred to these individual programs by their local school districts, state or private child caring agencies.
Classes operated by NWRESD deliver instruction by licensed teachers and educational assistants who provide the necessary supervision, special education and related services.
The Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education program (EI/ECSE) enhances services to our four county region with comprehensive birth-to-kindergarten services and programs for young children with disabilities, as well as their families. The EI/ECSE program cooperates with the ODE and component school districts to see that children and families can access exemplary, state-of-the-art evaluation, classroom and home based services.
NWRESD Related Services staff collaborates with each of the 20 component school districts and the Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Program to ensure all eligible students with disabilities, Birth through age Twenty-one, receive a free appropriate public education. The NWRESD ensures the provision of itinerant specialist personnel, across numerous professional discipline areas that work with students and component district staff in the student's home school.
