The Oregon DATA Project is funded with a $4.7 million grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences. The grant proposal was a collaborative effort between the Oregon Department of Education and the Education Enterprise Steering Committee, comprised of ODE, ESD, districts and post-secondary partners.
School districts and Education Service Districts are making investments in regional data warehouses as well as starting to train teachers and administrators how to use data to inform instruction. The Oregon Legislature has made an $8.4 million investment in a project that facilitates compliance reporting and the movement of standardized student transcripts across the state, the KIDS data warehouse.. The Oregon DATA Project’s purpose is to supplement and enhance these accomplishments in a way that is focused on student achievement.
NWRESD school improvement project has served as the starting point for the DATA Project trainings. NWRESD supports the efforts of the Project by providing support and training using both its existing trainings as well as those developed by the DATA Project. The purpose of both NWRESD and Project trainings/support on how to use data is to provide continuing professional development and support centered upon improvement of instruction and student achievement.
For information or training/support call Art Anderson, NWRESD Director of School Improvement and Instruction (503.614.1443) or Marta Turner, NWRESD School Improvement Coordinator (503.614.1474).
